Well, I am still running and am now a month away from the Marathon. I hurt my Hip Flexor (Muscle) before Thanksgiving and haven’t run since. It is feeling quite a bit better. I saw the Doctor on Monday and she gave me some good stretches and some Anti-inflamatories. And confirmed it was the Hip Flexor.
I will run again seriously next week and try to get back in the swing of it. I was up to 17 miles on my long runs and 34 miles a week, at about a 10:15-10:30 pace.
I am hoping that I can come back from this injury and make it on Jan 11th for the Marathon. I feel as if I have to do it. I mean we have 9 people coming down to Orlando to watch me do this…..*sigh* the pressure is on. LOL
I am going to keep this updated in the last final weeks of my push. I am hoping to run this Saturday (the 6th) a bit…
Please pray for me (if you do that sorta thing).
well, off to stretches and yoga to finish the night.
I ran last night (instead of the morning) as the sun was setting on the beach and it was absolutely gorgeous.
It was awesome, the beach breeze was blowing in my face as I was running giving me a wonderful breath of salty air…I felt like I could run forever!!!
I ran about 31:00 minutes and would say at least 3 miles…my best run to date.
I can’t wait to go tonight

Well, I got so busy I forgot to chat here about my beach run!!!
I ran 2 miles yesterday on the beach…it was loverly and I enjoyed it quite a bit
2 things though…there was a lot of people running and it was hard not to try to keep pace with them…(my competitive nature)…and, me being a turtle doesn’t help…lol
secondly, I didn’t think about the cosatal breeze that blows…wow I ran with it at my back for the first mile, but then turned around and ran into it for the other mile….(and it kicked my butt)
anyway it was beautiful and I loved it…I will run again tonight (07/10/08)
peace and blessings

Ran 2 miles today in about 21:10…it felt pretty good. It was quite toasty today (93 degrees)
it had only been in the high 70’s for all of my other runs….but, it felt good and I like the heat and the sweat.
guess I’m weird like that!!!
My God keep us and protect us!!
We are traveling down to St.Petersburg tomorrow. So my next run will be on the beach….woot!!!!!
I will probably not run on Tuesday…but, lookout Wdenesday morning!!!

Well… I ran 1 1/2 miles tonight in 15:10….it was a fast pace (for me that is!!!) and my body was telling me to stop there instead of 2 miles….oh well
I am not sure I will go for 2 next week or stick to 1 1/2 ???
We will see…I have plenty of time to train.

Happy 4th everyone
remember freedom isn’t free!!! Thanks to all the men and women serving in our armed forces today on this beautiful day!!!
Well as you can see, I failed to run on Wednesday and Thursday ( I wanted too… but got too busy).
So, I ran today…and my body scorned me for it…I felt sluggish at first (if you saw me run…you would agree). But, as I was running I felt better, breathing was tight at first but, better as time went on.
I warmed up considerably (more than my last few times) and it helped. I had in the back of my mind to run 2 miles, but as I slogged thru the first mile I thought “no way”. After the first mile my tempo picked up and I went for it, and got my 2 miles….I was happy (long way from 26.2).
I didn’t bring my watch (which may have been for the better)…but, I would guess it was around 21:00?
Anyway, enjoy the 4th and don’t lose a digit to some rogue firecracker.
God’s blessings

Ran again tonight…no snakes on the trail like last night
1 1/2 miles in 15:22….I feel like I am getting my lungs back…
stopped by the library and got Frank Shorter’s Running for Peak performance. It look like its chock full of good ideas

Ah the smell of asphalt….
Well, here goes nothing. I signed (ok, well my Wife really did) up for the Walt Disney marathon in January of 09′
Why? you may ask, I dunno it seemed like a good thing at the time…I suppose.
I haven’t run much (hardly at all) and I am going to give this a try.
Here’s the background to this whole debacle…
I have been dieting since April or so. All has gone fairly well. (40 lbs lost) But, I am still fairly heavy (227 lbs). The problem I seem to incure at this very point of my dieting (ok lifestyle change), Is that I start stalling on my diet… I sit at about the same weight for a month or so, which is very frustrating. So I was comptemplating how to get past this part and be victorious…
Well, I have run in the past and thought I could start exercising (which I haven’t done during this diet yet)…so I decided to run a time or two…short runs of a mile or two, but not much.
Ahem.
My father in law announced that he was going to run this loverly Marathon at Disney world in January. He has run marathons in the past…(quite a while ago). And of course my Wife pipes in with the fact that I should go run in it too…..huh?
Now, I ran a half marathon before and it wasn’t too bad…( I actually thought I could’ve ran the whole marathon)
But, I’m fat…and I haven’t run much………*sigh*
I agreed to do it… I think it will motivate me to continue to run and get in shape. (do I have any other choice?)…So I thought starting a blog about this whole experience would be a good way to track how I have done and how I am doing….
So…here goes
My first run will be tonight…I shall report later.
